I didn't have cable for 5 years after college. The only reason I got it back was sports. I got sick of going to someone else's house every time I wanted to watch sports.

I'm about to move in a few months though and unless my girfriend wants it I don't think I want to pay for it. I definitely found more time to play guitar, exercise and read when I didn't have cable to distract me. Plus, there are so many channels and almost nothing worth watching for so much of the time it seems like a waste of money.

Dang cable companies always get you with the bundles though. Pay 55 bucks for internet or 75 for cable and internet. It's hard not to go for it.

There is nothing like listening to baseball games on the radio while working in the garden . . . or barbequing under the sun. You can throw your peanut shells on the ground and nobody cares. I have a hard time watching baseball on tv with all the the pop-ups and their showing past footage while the game is in motion - it's all too much of a distraction to me. Listening on the radio stimulates and works the imagination in a fashion, not unlike listening to live Dead recordings.

I am not a real diehard sports fan but before I cut the cable I signed up for streaming ESPN via Time warner. After I canceled my cable it they not stop my streaming ESPN.So if I want to watch outside the lines or see highlights and scores I can still watch that on my computer at no extra charge......

But since spring is just around the corner I have lots of bicycle repairs and tuneups to help keep me busy and TV free...next winter I might get cabin fever and want it back....("sigh")...
